Hello there! So I know it's the day after Check-in, but I'm posting today because yesterday was crazy busy. Check-in began at 9:00 AM for me at the apartments, and I arrived 45 minutes early. Of course there were those really dedicated people who got there at 4 AM to get the perfect bed and bedroom. But I like to sleep.... so 45 minutes early was enough.
After waiting for 45 minutes, the line slowly began creeping up, and when we got to the front, we were directed up a flight of stairs to the second floor courtyard. That was where we turned in some important paperwork, signed more paperwork, took pictures for our cast member ID cards, got apartment assignments, and got our bus passes and Commuter Assistance cards (if we carpool, bike, take the bus, walk, we swipe them when we get to work and enter a code for the mode of transportation we took, and get one dollar a day!).
THEN........ We race to our apartment to see what we got. I walked into my apartment and met two of my new roommates, who had chosen the two-person bedroom. We got one of the apartments for five people, but our living area is ginormous! We have a huge bay view window in the front and it's so bright and open! However, we have so much space, we don't even know what to do with it yet!
I walked on over to my bedroom, and I was the first of us to get there. I was under the impression that we had a walk-in closet.... not true. We do have two regular sized closets with sliding doors, so that's nice. There is more than enough space for three girls. There is one bunk bed against a wall and my bed (yes, I got the single) is kind of in the middle of the room, facing the door. (I will post pictures tomorrow!)
Then we get to run around, try to move all of our stuff up the stairs and elevators and into our apartments. You think moving to a new home is hard? Try doing it along with your 230 neighbors all at the same time...
I met my wonderful roommates, Kellyn (who I had actually requested to be my roommate) and Brittany.
Not one of us knew the other before starting the program, but wow! we have a lot in common, and we are having a lot of fun so far! By the end of the day, we just about had everything unpacked.
We also had a brief welcome session this afternoon to go over a couple of basic things about housing.
Today, the first full day in our apartments has been busy! We had an orientation this morning at Team Disney Anaheim, which is next to the resort; it's the big green building - there are business offices, some auditoriums, and that's all I know of so far..
This orientation was basically just a welcome to the company and an overview of some of the Disney values and what they expect from us. It was given by the program leaders, who consistently give us helpful tips on how to fully utilize the opportunities we have at the Disney College Program. We did get to do a fun ice breaking activity and some trivia. I didn't know any of the answers!! Do you?
What year did the Walt Disney Company begin?
How much was the first Disneyland ticket priced and who was it sold to?
What city was Main Street, U.S.A. modeled after?

This afternoon, we had "Programs Success 101" which was a series of workshops on how to be successful throughout the program. They had topics including environmental responsibility, getting along with roommates, how to be financially successful during the program, and a few more.
This is a picture of my roommate Kellyn in a dumpster.
I don't know why it is this tiny, but she forgot that she had thrown some posters into the dumpster so Brittany and I helped her dumpster dive for them.
Later that afternoon was the welcome party! It was right in front of the apartment building. There was a DJ, pizza, drinks, a photo booth and raffle prizes. I never win anything as far as raffles and contest go. But there's a first time for everything! I won a $25 visa giftcard (I can redeem it anywhere)! Here come some groceries!
Thank you for reading! Talk to you soon :)
Well it seems like you are having ablast over there. Post some pics of your apartment it sounds amazing! Dont forget the little people back home. ;)
